Kayla Kerrone, b. 1991

Vancouver, Canada → Hamburg, Germany.

Kayla Kerrone is a Vancouver Island born photographer and artist whose work has always been layered by the natural world. Since graduating from Emily Carr University in Vancouver, Kerrone’s focus has primarily been on analog photography where she creates images that are punctuated by wild landscapes and movement in nature.

For Kayla, photography has always been more than just taking photographs. She believes it is an extension of life - a tool that helps frame the unknown and helps shape her identity. She uses her camera to understand her surroundings on a deeper level, by photographing not just the land, but the details around the corner, the texture on the trees, the movement in nature that most walk right by.

Today, Kayla finds herself across the pond in Hamburg, Germany where she continues to use her camera as a therapeutic tool. For her, her camera will always be her compass to find wild, offbeat stories that make people look twice.
